February 2009

The Boeing Stratocruisers Everett had their monthly meeting at Alfy's Pizza in Silver Lake.

President Mike Burks brought the meeting to order at 5:00P.M. with the "seeing eye gavel".

Secretary Bonnie Smith read the minutes from the January meeting and they stand as read.

Treasurer Mark Thomson gave the treasurer's report.

Old business:

The Edmonds car show was discussed and someone from Edmonds will do the show.

The swap meet at Puyallup this weekend will meet at the rest stop just South of the Everett Mall on I-5.  Mike Burks and Mike Ross are the only ones going so far and will leave at 8:30A.M.  There is another swap meet at Puyallup on the 14th and 15th of this month (February) and the rest stop would be as good a place to meet as anywhere.

Kla-Ha-Yah Days people are going to be meeting in a few weeks to start getting ready for the July 19th show.  The trophy committee has met several times and has come up with some changes for this year.  3rd place could be dropped because a lot of categories have only a few cars.  More categories could be added because some categories had too many years in them for the cars to compete.

Better sound systems would be a big help because the music only goes around where we are.  Maybe the city would put up some more  speakers so the sound would be spread around more.  More advertising would help.  We should have two computers for faster processing so the voting would be tallied earlier.

Mike and Bonnie Smith asked the club members to save aluminum cans (members can bring them to the meeting and Mike and Bonnie will take them) and the money from them will go to the Lynnwood food bank (maybe in the form of groceries) and the cans won't cost anyone anything.  Thank you for helping with this.  George and Joanne brought needed items for the Lynnwood food bank.  Items can be collected any time and will be delivered by John Lato or Mike and Bonnie Smith on behalf of the Stratocruisers.  The food bank weighs each delivery and you will be amazed at how many pounds we will have at the end of the year.

Car-of-the-month went to Linda Morgan who has a beautiful 1955 Olds Super 88.

Jim Girard sold 50/50 tickets and lucky Willie Spann won.  Thanks for doing that, Jim.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Bonnie Smith, secretary
