April 2009

The Boeing Stratocruisors met at Alfy's pizza, Silver Lake location.  President Mike Burks brought the meeting to order at 5:09 P.M.

Secretary Bonnie Smith read the minutes from the last meeting and treasurer Mark Thomson gave the treasurer's report.

We had 2 guests that joined our club, Francisco and Maricia Blas from Burien.  They have a 1965 Chevy Nova with a 283 engine that they plan on taking to a 2000 mile road race in Mexico.  They must do the race in 6 days.  Sounds like fun!

George and Joanne Luster also brought their grand daughter, Brook, to our meeting (a future member?).  Brook's dad operates a car restoration and repair shop.

Nice to have the young people attend.

Kla-Ha-Yah Days date is July 17-20th.  Our car show will be on the 20th.  Saturday night (the 19th) is the grand parade.  Anyone interested in driving their car in the parade?  It takes a lot of planning to get the show together so we have to start early.  We have some repeat sponsors signed and Mike Burks is working hard to get as many sponsors as he can to make our show more appealing.  L&B Auto is the major sponsor.  One man is the owner and is also the Chaplin for the fire department.

Tom Joy told us about his car break in (crash and grab) and told us his two G.P.S.s were stolen.  He was having lunch at his usual haunt, Glacier Lanes. This can happen anywhere so don't leave anything out in the open.

Can report;  Aluminum has gone up in price-good news-it is now $.20 lb, was $.13.  We had 38lb of cans and came home with $7.00.  They charged $1.00 to weigh our cans!  We use the money to donate food to the Lynnwood food bank and were able to donate 22lbs of food to them.

We received a "thank you" letter from Vicci, development director of the Everett Battered Woman, for our check to them.  They are now called Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

The Griot's garage tour is April 11 at 1:00 P.M. in Fife.  Tom Joy, George Luster, Chuck Gore and Mike Smith are going.  If anyone else wants to go, give us a call at (425)745-5303 and we will let Griots know.

We had 3 visitors and 19 members at our meeting.  Mike Smith sold the split-the-pot tickets and also won it (sompin fishy here?) and donated his winnings back to the can fund.

Respectfully submitted,

Bonnie Smith, secretary
