June 2009
The Boeing Stratocruisers met at Alfy’s Silver Lake location on June 3, 2009, Wednesday. Meeting was called to order by our vice-president, Trish Parrish, who took president Mike Burks’ place because Mike was recovering from an operation on his knee. Bonnie Smith, secretary, read the minutes from our May meeting and Mark Thomson, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report.
We no longer meet at the Wendy’s Silver Lake location on late Friday afternoons as we have done for the last three years. We just couldn’t get a good group to attend. Now, everyone that wants to show off their cars on Friday come to the big lot across from Fred Meyers in Lynnwood on 196th near 44th (between 44th and 48th avenues). It’s the Taco Time parking lot. Lots of room and lots of people (watch your car to protect it from the gawkers who are sometimes careless).
Saturday evenings there are several different locations to park/show your cars, depending on where you live:
Clearview, at the McDonalds
Shawn O’Donnell’s restaurant at 5:00 P.M. on 128th East of I-5 at exit 186 in the lower lot of the
restaurant (big, safe lot with lots of parking).
Burger King in Arlington (kinda small lot).
You can start your weekend early and start with the Thursday Night Garage Tour-men only-(sexist!). Lots of guys attending, lots of great cars and good food ($5 donation for the food). Our own George and Joanne Luster had a great turnout at their home and everyone had a good time. Great food and great cars! Around 40-45 in attendance.
George Luster mentioned we still needed a jack for the trailer and Mike Ross said he had an extra one we could have. Thanks, Mike!
Joanne Luster made up sign-up sheets for different jobs available at Kla-Ha-Yah Days on July 19th. Starts EARLY A.M. and goes until 4:00 P.M. Anyone that works the show can enter their cars free. We have 91 trophies to hand out, 45 are picked by the sponsors and the rest by popular vote from drivers entering their vehicles.
David and Carey Clay are our newest members. They saw our ad in the union paper.
Bill Buckler is having a garage built in his back yard and it looks like it is coming along great. The roof is on and the siding is up and soon his lift will be installed which can also be used to park another car.
CAN REPORT: We sold 49lbs. at $.20 per lb and got $10:00 for our effort. We were able to give 20
lbs of groceries to the Lynnwood food bank as a result, so don’t forget to bring all
of your empty aluminum cans to the meetings.
Thanks, Trish for bringing used plastic bags tonight for the Lynnwood food bank. Used bags are needed too, so everyone bring all you can.
George Luster sold split-the-pot tickets at the meeting, tonight. Mike Ross won and generously donated his winnings to the food bank. Thanks Mike! Thank you too George.
John and Wendy Lato got to attend the meeting tonight and we were glad to see them. They volunteer at the Lynnwood food bank and have to miss our meetings (good reason to miss!)
